Autumn is in it's element in the countryside town of Daylesford, Victoria. It’s a place of particular importance for us here at Alise Black Photographic Studios. The team often stay in the region and love it for it’s relaxing feel, amazing produce, and during autumn the picturesque tree lined streets. It made perfect sense to me that Daylesford be the setting for The Face Of Autumn 2013 professional photography shoot.
When Bridgette, The Face Of Autumn 2013 winner arrived, she was so excited and so were we. We were about to give Bridgette a first hand experience of what it’s like behind the scenes of a professional photo shoot.
Andrea, our professional hair and makeup artist, utilised her passion for creative yet classic fashion photography to compliment the chosen garmets. Bringing over 10 years of international experience to the shoot, this was her first creative involvement with The Face Of, Alise Black Photographic Studios seasonal shoot. Working with experts such as Andrea who are leaders in their field, inspires me to push myself and the team to new levels of creativity.
For our first photography shoot, we headed towards Daylesford Lake. The team decided on two vintage style dresses and a vintage jacket by unknown designers, to style the professional photography shoot. Adriana, our assistant stylist, and I hand picked these from the Daylesford Mill Market earlier that day. The first was a short sheer dress, while the second was a floor length burnt orange, giving us two vastly different looks to play with.
The second photography shoot took place in the early evening at The Perfect Drop Wine and Food Lounge, in the town centre of Daylesford. For this shoot Bridgette changed into a modified, Collette Dinnigan design – which happened to be my much-loved wedding dress. In this highly styled final photography shoot, we were all caught up in the fun and enjoyment of it and were again reminded of why we do what we do, because it’s what we love!
It's wonderful working with a model such as Bridgette who is being guided through a first step model portfolio. I love to see confidence growing and drawing out that special connection that forms the images during a shoot. With every shot, inspires confidence and in turn earns me trust.
‘The Face of Autumn 2013’ described her experience as being “amazing and so much fun” She also added that for anyone who is thinking about having a professional photography session to “Absolutely do it – don’t even hesitate. It’s the most incredible experience that you may not do again.”
